historyNamed after her rather kooky maternal grandfather, Charles Morgan Everton was born in the hamlet of Zephyr Cove, Nevada. She lived a rather ordinary childhood under the somewhat not-so vigilant eye of her mother the former spokesmodel Emily Wyatt. Her father was never really in the picture as he had left the family when Charley was two. She has little recollection of her father and adopted her grandpop as her "father figure." They spent a considerable amount of time together as she was growing up. He was old and retired and made time for his granddaughter as it was clear his own daughter couldn't quite manage. Her cousin of sorts, Emmeline, nicknamed Emmy, was also around the house as a lot as Charley was growing up. Emmeline's mother was Emily's best friend from childhood and the two never quite grasped the concept of growing up. Their daughters were left to one another's devices as they gossiped about the newest bachelor in town. It was a rather banal sight and one that Charley grew to resent in her teens.
Her grandfather died when she was sixteen and she was devastated. The town that had previously held so much for her now became a prison of damp memories. She wanted to get out. And the most obvious answer was Las Vegas. She and her best friend-cousin hybrid Emmy moved to a one bedroom studio on the outskirts of Sin City to escape the oppressive energy that home started to exude. Emmy was spotted by a local talent agency and was drafted to be a promotional model at various events around the city. And while Emmy found work, Charley found Marcus. A musician struggling to make it, his story was no different than the thousands of other Las Vegas teens. All too eager to get away from home, lose themselves in the splendor of Sin City. She was 17, he was 19. She fell head over heels for his small city charm and pure talent. She began to spend more and more time with him.
The relationship sank into a comfortable ebbing when dark little secrets began to surface. They came in the form of a girl named Ashlee. Marcus had admitted to cheating, but only once. He had been drunk and she had been a groupie. Charley knew Marcus loved her and couldn't refuse him. She couldn't imagine life without him, they had fallen into such a routine. It was going to be fine, she recited to herself over and over. It was trust, it could be regained. Until they found out that Ashlee was pregnant and keeping the baby. The relationship between Marcus and Charley changed that day, falling apart before their eyes.
Emmy received a modeling contract in Paris and it was an offer Charley couldn't refuse. She enrolled in the Academie and took off, leaving without a word to the boy she so loved but knew couldn't have. Here she is now, trying to find her way in a place so beautiful, it reminds her nothing of her home.
