Ladies and gentlemen, this here is Ewan Colbourne. Here are the basic facts you should know about him:
• He is a twenty-five year old butcher from a small town in New South Wales, Australia, taught by his father from the early age of nine. He is fairly low class (lower middle, really), but able to support himself well enough.
• He is a solitary man, not prone to approach people or initiate conversation. However, he is friendly enough once approached and not shy so much as quiet and reserved.
• He was born with an unquenchable curiosity and he has always had a strong desire to learn from the world around him. However, he has never been strong at academics in any form and had to receive tutoring in school, as his confusion led him to give up fairly easily.
• At age four, his father was arrested for armed robbery, a foolish and desperate attempt to get money when his business began to fail. He spent the next three years in prison and was not allowed to see his son for five years altogether.
• Ewan spent the years following his father's arrest living in his mother's childhood home with his mother, uncle, and grandparents.
• At age nine, Ewan demanded to be allowed to see his father, then eventually requested, at age eleven, to move in with him. Though it hurt his mother initially, she agreed and he was allowed to move, though regular visits with his mother and grandparents were scheduled.
• He met Camilla Buxton during his first year in secondary. They became friends who argued regularly, but generally got on well enough. Over the years, their relationship continued to blossom, with Camilla eventually even tutoring him when he was placed on academic probation at age fifteen. They began to date when he was eighteen (her seventeen) and married two years later.
• Their attempts to get pregnant failed, leading to a strain in their relationship. One night, as they drove home from dinner, they were arguing over this very thing. A driver ran a red light and ran into Ewan's car. He suffered a few minor injuries, but Camilla died before emergency could arrive.
• Ewan grew more reserved and withdrawn, hating the feel of the small town he had once loved. He could not stand that everyone knew him, his story, and pitied him. He travelled to France on business and ended up feeling very drawn to Saint-Michel in particular. He remained, and has begun to make a new life for himself here.
Ewan could use anything and everything. He might have some acquaintances, and a few good friends. In most cases, he would need to be approached by other people. He is currently working as a hired-on butcher for a market until he can start his own place in Saint-Michel, so some people may have seen him there? He is friendly overall, though not very open, especially initially. So, a few friends, yes. He could get along well with most. Despite his seemingly seemingly hard exterior, he is honestly just a big teddy bear for the most part.
Enemies... well, it's possible. Ewan is more the type to walk away than to fight, but he is rather intimidated. Who knows...?
Lovers. These are unlikely. He is still mourning the death of his wife. Anything is possible, though, so let me know if you have thoughts! <33

EWAN & ROSE
I just couldn't go to sleep without posting Ewan's post for Rose. Rose comes from a very affluent background but despite this she never really cares for how much a person is worth. People are just people, she treats them all the same, with mild interest. To sum up the other aspects of her personality, Rose is also a person prone to being thoughtless at times. Like a child who does things and is ignorant about how other people feel or she knows but doesn't care. She's always been curious and rather bold. Rose has also always aspired to be a writer since she was a child but she only shared this dream with her grandfather who died when she was like eighteen. After that, she quickly fell into a deep depression which managed to push a wedge between her and her boyfriend,Lucas. Though she loved him dearly, he was her first love after all, she was the one who decided to let him go. But she regretted decision because lo and behold, several years later, he marries her "perfect" sister ( you can interpret that as repressed resentment and jealousy but they were pretty close, best friends in fact. if anyone dared to talk badly about her received Rose's wrath). You can imagine the hurt and immense regret she felt.So the day of her sister's wedding, when it finally hit her that they were getting married, she decides to kiss Lucas. It wasn't the smartest idea but Rose does not think very rationally when it suits her and acts willfully at times. Afterward, everyone in her family was just terribly disappointed in her and upset over it, some didn't even speak to her like her mother and sister. So on the spur of the moment after feeling like nothing was going right, Rose left England for Saint-Michel because this was her grandfather's home.
So what was I thinking when it came to Ewan and Rose? Well,of the things Rose likes to do is sit in public places, people watchand writes short descriptive stories about them from what she sees and sometimes she uses this to help her write. Since the town square is a frequent spot of hers, she'd probably see Ewan more than a few times coming and going to the butcher shop and find something in him that interests her. The fact that he might seem hard to crack at first will encourage her even more to talk to him and strike up conversations with him at frequent intervals. Even invite him to get lunch with her or something. Frankly she hardly knows no one in Saint-Michel except for her grandfather's neighbors who like to hover around her and though well meaning, tend to be very nosy in her affairs. At first she'd only look for a friend, a fellow tourist of sorts. And want something else. She wouldn't be looking to be the next love of his life, she doesn't want anything like love when she still harbors feelings for her ex though she pushes it away where she can't think of it much. But she doesn't want to be alone. That's what she really wants. Its kinda sad but that's the truth. It can develop however, whenever, wherever. So strange that I suddenly get bursts of ideas right when I'm about to sleep. But those are my ideas, I'd love to know how you feel bout them.(:

Wrong account... but I'm lazy.
I'd really like to chat this out on AIM as well. It would be an interesting plot. Ewan's a very quiet type, but friendly... he's like to chat with her, provided he was certain that she wasn't romantically interested. If he thought she was, he'd say he wasn't available, flat out. Perhaps she would come into the shop and talk with him initially? Or she could find him wandering about the town.
If I get a chance, I can try to respond to your open thread. I'm just a bit swamped of late.
