Bienvenue à St. Michel! Before joining, the admins ask that you read over the rules & guidelines established here. Once you join we're going to take that as an indicator that you're going to agree with what is listed below and follow what we've laid out. Everyone, including the staff of this site, are expected to follow these rules. If you choose not to it may result in the termination of your account with us.

First and foremost, respect is a necessity. Think of it like putting on clothes before going out. If you can't get along with others, please don't play here. We won't tolerate anyone putting down someone else or picking on another member.[/blockquote]
Don't argue with the admins. Seriously, it's not going to work out well, and chances are, not in your favor. However if you do have an issue with something going on we encourage you to PM the ADMIN account to discuss it privately. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached, the admin's word is final.
So if you're reading this, we're assuming that you're thinking of joining. Allow us to make a recommendation: GO FOR IT![/blockquote]
If you do join, we ask that you plan on being active. Once your character is accepted, people are going to want to write with them - we guarantee it. There is nothing worse than creating an amazing character and then abandoning them.
We ask that your characters display name be their first and last name in all lower case. For example if your character is named Ima Amazing Character, please have their name displayed as ima character.
Members may post unfinished applications but they must be completed after ONE WEEK. After that time any unfinished applications will be deleted without notice.
Once your application is completed a staff member will review it as soon as possible. The longest this will take is ONE WEEK from the date you finish your application. Please do not PM the staff or spam the C-Box in an attempt to get your application approved faster. Trust us, we see it and will get to it as soon as possible.
Chances are your application will be approved. In some cases further explanation or details may be required. In those instances a staff member will provide you with some direction and you will have a week to fix things within your application. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM the ADMIN account and one of us will get back to you.
You are responsible for claiming the intended play-by in the FACE CLAIM. If you decide not to, don't be upset when someone else uses your play-by and you have to select a new celebrity / model.
We get the fact that you love their youtube videos, or that they're hot and post a thousand pictures of themselves on their myspace... but for the purposes of this site no myspace, deviantart, flickr, facebook, or youtube celebrities are allowed for play-bys.
We allow you to have FIVE characters on this site before you require staff approval. This is to ensure that all accounts are actively used. Once the staff sees that you can maintain multiple accounts we will have no problem allowing additional accounts.
Members are only allowed one account per character.
We're looking for original characters here. This applies to both your character's history and names. Characters cannot have the same name as their play-by or a role they may have played in the past.
So your character is perfect. They're smart, gorgeous, can crochet an afghan with their toes, solve world hunger, and happen to be an award-winning singer in their spare time. Of course, they are also modest about their achievements... Rolling your eyes? Good. Because so are we and since the staff has yet to meet someone who is super smart, super pretty, a super drug addict with a super dark past we're going to be a little skeptical that your character could be one. Think of the people you've met in real life - they're the same people you'll encounter on the streets of St. Michel, and the sort of character you should be aiming to create.
DO IT! We get that everyone has a life outside of this site but please don't leave your RP-partner hanging.
This is an intermediate-advanced roleplaying forum, meaning that your posts should be up to par. While we don't have a set word count per post we feel that 350 words or three well-developed paragraphs is sufficient. Obviously this rule doesn't apply to OCC or IM / phone threads. If we notice a trend of one sentence replies, chances are we'll talk to you about it.
We also expect you to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for your posts. This means nothing written in all lower case. or ENTIRELY IN CAPS. or LiKe THis sO iT l00ks LiKe YoUr CoMpUtEr iS bRoKeN. or lyke dis yo 'cuz spellinz over8ted. Please do not center your text as it makes it hard to read the post. There's a button at the bottom generously provided by proboards called spell check. It is your friend and we recommend you become well acquainted.
We've rated this roleplay PG-13. We do not have restriction on language - although obsessive use is discouraged. There are a lot of words in the English language and your character should know more than four-lettered ones. Drugs, violence, and alcohol are allowed as well, but, again, if it's unrealistic you'll be warned. In regards to sex, please keep it to a minimum and put some sort of warning message in the title of the thread.
Power playing is strictly prohibited. Unless you have the opposite character's permission, refrain from acting as an all-controlling deity in your roleplay posts.
One of the most important aspects of roleplaying here is to remain realistic. This is a real-life roleplay; there aren't magical powers or vampires roaming about.
Within two weeks of your character being accepted we expect you to have written and posted one in character post. This does not include plot pages, IMs, etc. This can be a post for a thread with another existing character, an open thread for anyone to reply to, or a response to another open thread. We're glad you're here and want you to get involved with plotting ASAP.
We get that you're super excited about your new character and having them plot with the other amazing characters on this site. Until they are approved you're not allowed to request plots from other members on this site through PM or their plot pages. There's a reason you need to apply and be accepted first.
As far as avatars and signatures go, just keep them at a reasonable size (though we prefer 100w x 150h). There is no maximum size for signatures, but be sure not to stretch the page. We do not allow animated .gifs. Make sure they're pictures of your character, too.
NO hotlinking of images from other sites. Images that are will be deleted without warning.
If you plan on abandoning the site in a week, please don't, it hurts our hearts a little. Bookmark this site so you don't lose it in the tangles of the internet and come back at a later date. We won't hold life getting busy against you, honest.
We have regular activity checks and we will delete your account if you're not active.
Refrain from nagging your roleplay partners. If the person you're roleplaying with hasn't replied to your post, be understanding and give them time. You can send a friendly little reminder through PM if you haven't heard from them in at least a week, but please, no more than that.
New accounts that have not posted an application will be deleted after one week so we can keep better tabs on who is active or not.
We have had issues with dummy accounts being created with the sole purpose of advertising for various companies. In order to mitigate this, any account with a link but no character will be automatically deleted.
If you are going to be away for any length of time, please modify your characters name to include (away). If at all possible, include the return date. This will allow your characters to be exempt from ONE activity check. Failure to do this means that the staff cannot guarantee an accidental deletion.
Plagiarism in any form will result in the deletion of your account and a permanent ban on your IP address. No warning will be given.
